HP> Unpaid Volunteer For D.I.Y.'s Who Need Info On Designing and HP> Building Affordable,Frugal Supportive Neighborhoods, Who Works HP> At: Hi All, I've been a lurker in the group for about 3 weeks now, with the exception of one post that got no responses. We have started a housing coop (Shining Mountains Housing Cooperative) and could use some direction. We have nothing right now except about 26 people (in theory) and 14 of them working hard on the project. This is mostly a low income project, but we have a grant for land purchase and the sponsoring organization that is backing us will build the project and then sell it to us. I like some of the ideas tossed around in here, however, we have mobile homes to deal with. Have you any ideas that would lend well to mobile homes, or ways to at least help along "community" in a mobile home setting? We are aiming for a thirty five acre parcel and plan to put in 60 mobiles. Hopefully this includes at least 15 acres of open space. One of my ideas was that WE build the community center. (yes, there are a couple of us that are capable of overseeing this kind of thing). The thought was it would be made of straw bale (post and beam for snow loads), and of course it would be central in the complex. Any input is welcome.
