Our under construction dining room (the framers start today!!!) is 28 feet wide by 42 feet long. We expect it will seat 60 comfortably ( 2 rows of 5, six person tables) and 90 packed. (three rows of 5 six person tables) Our population will be somewhere between 50 and 90. Our current resident dinner maximum population is 30 and we use a 20 x 16 space which barely fits us all. Our population will be somewhere between 50 and 90 when phase II is built and occupied in some distant future. One place to get some good ideas about dining room space is restraunts. Measure out and draw the configurations of a couple-six to get ideas about how many tables can be put into what kind of space under what kind of configurations. Another idea is to measure out table and chair space for one table configuration, such as a 6 person table, then map that across the space. Yet another idea is to borrow folding tables and chairs from the local church or community center and set them up in different configurations to get a real feel for space. This can be a fun, afternoon small group project. Rob Sandelin Sharingwood Rob Sandelin Sharingwood
