I think letting forming groups use your facilities can do huge things
to making cohousing expand. We (Puget Sound Cohousing Network) hold
our annual cohousing gathering of the tribes in the commonhouse of
existing groups. This is a fabulous way of getting people psyched up
about cohousing - to see it, feel it, breath it, makes people commit.

This fall PSCN is doing a Cohousing fair, a show and tell, recruitment
and publicity event where local groups display about their projects and
we promote the idea. We invite govt. and angency folks from the
governor on down to this and it is also a way to spark interest and
enthusiasm, as well as getting recruiting groups some publicity.

Open houses can accomplish this as well. We have succeeded in creating
18 cohousing communities to date, with another 13 in construction or
close to construction. Now we need to show the world, YES! it can be
done, it has been done, and, most importantly, its a GREAT way to live!

One observation that the movement is growing. Last July PSCN got 15
calls for information about cohousing. As of yesterday PSCN has gotten
78, many refering to known projects which are sold out. People are out
there wanting cohousing, now we just have to help them make it happen.
