I believe this was a cohousing group in San Luis Obispo, California, and 
the article was in the now defunct "Growing Community" newsletter (it's 
been incorporated into Communities Magazine).  It would be interesting to 
know how they fared with the banks. Anyone have any info on that group? I 
believe their land was donated, or bequeathed, or something unusual...
