Hi all, This thread on getting the word out (and what the words should be) got me thinking about another aspect of marketing that, if we could find a collaborative solution, would solve my specific problem: a good-looking logo. What I have in mind is a generic symbol that nascent groups like mine could just wedge their names into and use. I can think of good and bad in this. First, the good: + Groups without graphic artists in their midst can have a good-looking logo without paying $300 or more to get one. + A single, nationwide "cohousing symbol" can help people recognize Group XYZ for the local version of a larger thing. The bad: - A single symbol implies certification or something like that. A sheister could rip it off and rip off the public. - A nationally-recognized symbol is no substitute for a specific and local identity. As for specific design ideas for this logo, I'd say let's decide whether it's worth doing first, and then find someone who does logo design for a living. Greg Emil gee [at] hal.com
