Thanks Dan Suchman for such a relevant example for me to chew on. I can only
look at my own car buying habits. For the first 17 years I had a driver's
licence I purchased 'pre-owned ' cars (as in cheaper, paid with cash, lower
insurance rates, few options). It seemed like the sane thing to do. Then I
moved to S. Florida and found that I have to drive sometimes 50 miles to work
(freelance, not everyday). I was also tired of the eccentricities of my
beloved cars. I finally bought a new car and was faced with all of the
packages Ford had to offer. For a little , no alot more I could have a
comfortable seat that wrapped around me on those long lonely drives , a
skylight to see the day I was missing, and extra power for heavy rains.

Since we many of us have the opportunity to build Cohousing from the ground
up we want to have it all. Or as my mother used to say, our eyes are bigger
than our stomachs. I'll be considering your point in the creation of our
community (by the way- an 'environmentally
..solar.....sustainable....diverse... place). I'll keep in mind that its
really cohousing which is driving me through the process.
