If they're the ones I've seen, they are awful from an efficiency
stand point. Lumens/watt is not the same level as a standard bulb
which is why they last so long.

Compact florescents are much more efficient - last 10,000-15,000
hours and use 1/4-1/5 the amount of electricity. The only drawback
is that the manufacturing process must be a bit messier because
of all the additional materials involved.
