Cindy, 

At Doyle Street and in the Old Oakland group, the members are households,
not individuals. How the individual households work out particiaption in the
planning stage us up to them. My guess is that all cohousing commumities
have at least one--perhaps many--two adult households where only one
(spouse) participates most of the time. Once living in our projects starts,
all adults are expected to cook and all are expected to do their share of
the other work, but for the purpose of homeowner's association meetings each
household needs to be represented by only one adult, although all are
encouraged to participate.
