Scott cowley writes: However, I think that cohousing is just as susceptible to cooptation by the privileged and powerful as any other "liberal" cause. I guess it depends on how you define the notions of privileged and powerful. It could be easily said that ALL cohousing is for the privileged and powerful, after all homeownership itself is a gimmee of the priviliged. One of the primary class distinctions in America is home ownership, a class secured by banks, job status and economic privilege. Try and get a mortgage without a stable job history, good credit and significant economic assets. The banks determine who lives in cohousing as much as anything else. So isn't cohousing coopted from the very start by the privileged? Rob Sandelin
