Recently our group has experienced a large increase in Associate Members (people who pay $30 per quarter to serve on committees, attend meetings, and do everything but block consensus), and some of us are starting to worry that we may not have enough incentives in place to encourage people to put the big money down and become full Active Members. We have kicked around the idea of limiting Associate Member status to 6 or 9 months, at which point you have to move up or move out; deciding that lot selection would be in order of when you become Active; or limiting the range of decisions which Associates could even discuss. Does anyone else have ideas for possible incentives which would encourage the additional investment without driving people away entirely?
