David Mandel, Thanks for bringing up this issue. Your post made me curious as to where our long-term reserves are invested, and I aim to find out promptly and lobby for a more socially conscious fund if they are not already in one. Those of you who have never lived in a condominium before might like to know that the law requires (David, is this true in all states?) that a Homeowner's Association regularly put money into long term reserves. A periodic reserve study is also required (in California every three years.) to assure the state that your reserves are adequate as a percentage of the value of your property.
