Remind everyone that they'll be spending more time looking at others'
houses than at their own. That should help discourage emotional attachment
to a particular color for one's own house if it doesn't fit with an overall
scheme developed by a committee.

I barely remember the process with us, except that the overall plan was
delegated to a small committee and everyone ended up being surprised at how
uncontroversial it was. We have five different colors for houses and
another for the common house.
