I suggest using a weighted voting system instead. Setup a limited amount of
samples, give everybody 4 stickers and let them vote on their preferences by

placing stickers on them. The color sample with the most stickers wins. You
can let people put all their 4 stickers on one choice, or spread them out
 however they want. >>

I agree. We did this first, working with the color palettes our consultant
gave us (still more than our builder wanted). There were not really any
clear "winners: so we then took a week to think about it and look more
mindfully at the colors around us. During the week, our consultant got us
some extra large paint chips which were much better than the little
inch-square jobs. Then we came back together and three members laid out
proposals using subsets of the palettes. We combined the palettes (started
with the most minimal and filled gaps using the other proposals), then let
each member have a chance to remove one color he or she really couldn't live
with. That left us with the number we needed to give the builder! (22 sets
of body/trim/accent). We did the actual selection in front of a bank of
windows on a sunny day with a foundation brick sample and roof-colored sample
sitting next to the paint chips.
