At Lake Claire Cohousing in Atlanta, choosing exterior colors was
extremely arduous. The uncontroversial part was deciding we would choose
a palette of 3 colors and which houses would get what color since we
have a very small site of connected houses, and we wanted a good flow of
color to enhance the architecture.

The arduous part was choosing the actual colors. We had a small
committee come up with a range of color palettes, and after lengthy
discussions, chose one set of colors that everyone could live with. The
problem was, the colors looked different from the chips once painted on
the houses, and several people decided they could not live with those
colors. After finally consulting a professional colorist and spending
extra money to repaint a number of the houses, we finally ended up with
colors we're all happy with.

My advice, therefore, is to get the group to agree to listen to
professional advice, and also have swatches painted on the houses to
show what they will actually look like in exterior light.
