Cohousing could profit from legislative study, not only for planning
reasons, but also for financing reasons.  If FNMA guidelines encouraged
cohousing, believe me you'd see a lot more of it, nationwide.

Natural allies with cohousers are New Urbanists.  In fact, you could say
cohousing is a subset of new urbanism.  Basically, NU folks encourage
walking communities (rather than sprawl connected by autos).  To read
more about NU, some design principals that might be useful to cohousers
generally (surprisingly absent from McCamant & Durrett's work), I

Cohousing and NU are part of some larger social issues that are an
extraordinary opportunity for public service.  Check it out.
