Fair Oaks Cohousing, an urban retro-fit cohousing community located in
Madison, Wisconsin, is seeking additional members.

We are four families (8 adults, 3 kids) in four units. We recently acquired
an additional building with two 2-bedroom units. At this time, one unit is
available for occupancy and another will become available in August 1999.
We share a large organic garden, orchard and child play area. In good
weather we hold outdoor potlucks, campfires, and musical jam sessions. We
do child care exchange, share laundry facilities, and do food preserving
together. We plan to hold rotating dinners and develop plans for common
space over time.

Behind our houses is an expansive city park and Starkweather creek, with
lots of birds and other wildlife to enjoy. Lake Monona and Olbrich
Botanical Garden are less than three blocks away. A bus transfer station is
nearby, affording easy access to several bus lines. A bike path goes from
our back door to downtown Madison.

We plan to continue to expand the community. Nearby homes (ranging from
one-bedroom on up) are regularly available for rent or sale. We seek a
diversity of members--singles, seniors, and families. We also invite
renters interested in cohousing.
