Mixed Income Cohousing Communities

A good way of dealing with affordable housing is to do it on a small scale.

For cohousing communities typical below market rate units could be only 2
or 3 mixed in with market rate units of 15 to 30. If this was done on a
large scale in small bites, I think the problems with "slums" would be
greatly lessened.

I would be interested in getting feed back and experience from cohousing
communities
that have had some experience with development of a mixed income community
that included some households at below the market rate either for home
ownership or for rental.

What money or other incentives are available for a mixed income project to
support mixed below market housing?

What has been your experience living in such a project?
