I have been reading up on forms of ownership (incl. Rob Sandelin's stuff) and I am wondering what experiences people have had. I like the private ownership of units, and private mortgages, of the condo model, but it seems that with condos, the community gives up any control over who comes in in the future. Groups take such care, and put so much energy, into teaching and integrating new members as the newbies grow in commitment. Then, when all the work is done, anyone can come in? People with no commitment, no desire to co-manage, to keep the values alive?! It seems crazy to me... a pattern that could bode ill in the long term, as more and more lukewarm people come in, just for plunking down the money... On the other hand, co-ops seem a real pain with having to bundle everything to be held in common, and carrying to burden of anyone who does not pay regularly... Vera
