Cohousing-L Mailing List: New member, questions

Dear group,

    Let me first introduce myself. My name is Jennifer, and I am a
therapist. I'm married, and we have two daughters (3 and 7 weeks). My
husband and I are both from small, close-knit communities. We have both
experienced a significant gap in our lives since moving to the city.
    I have just recently learned about a cohousing development that will be
opening in my local area. My husband and I (and our two kids and three
cats!) are very interested in becoming a member of this community, but we
have not yet met the current community members. I would find it very helpful
to get some suggestions on what kind of questions are important to ask the
community before making a final decision. Also, what have you found to be
the most challenging aspects of cohousing?
    I look forward to learning more about the process of cohousing. It
sounds like the ideal solution for a family who really wants a strong sense
of community in their daily lives.
