Visitor numbers ???

I have had one reply to this post so far, and the application goes in
this week.

Please could you send urgently an approximation of your visitor numbers.
Governments and banks etc tend to need quantifiable data, so what i am
asking is for you to estimate how many visitors you have over say a
month, or year, and an estmate of the number of people in your
city/region.

On the records theme, quanitifiable data is one of the key resources I
identified in my research project to assist getting more cohousing
projects on the ground. I know it is a pain to keep records, but it is
one thing that WE can do to give the movement more credibility.

Thanks again.

ps. For those interested the body concerned is called Infrastructure
Auckland. Its purpose is to give grants to bring about improvements to
stormwater and transportation in the region. How this came about is a
bit of a sad story really. The late 1980's new right state government
fad sought and partly acheived the sale and privatisation of some of
Auckland Citys assets. Fortunately before it got too far the people that
controlled regional government managed to get the financial assets tied
up in a trust. Now the state governments way of completing the deed is
to require them to grant this money away ostensibly for sustainable
services.
Anyone who has a project which benefits the region in those areas over
and above what a developer is required to do by law is eligible.

Auckland itself is a low density suburban city of about 1,000,000 people
and is growing at 3% pa. Infrastructure has been under-funded for many
terms of government, and growth pressure is threatening to damage the
natural treasures that "make Auckland special". Local government now are
becoming interested in "Low impact urban design", "Livable communities",
and "urban intensification around transit nodes". Cohousing has a
significant contribution to make to these goals.

.. applying for a grant for our stormwater features,
(watertanks, pond, swales, permeable paving, bog garden etc.) It would
assist our chances of getting this grant if I could illustrate the
magnitude of visitor numbers that cohousing projects have, particularly
first projects in regions.
Can you tell us roughly how many visitors per month, and the size of
your regional population.
As our local government only funds the public good component, this way
we can argue that the "spread of benefits" is far and beyond ourselves.

Much appreciated.
