Sure it is possible to keep is simple. We charge $15 an hour but could call 
it a donation. Because Marsh Commons found contaminated soil and had a very 
hard time financially we had to get into really charging to keep ourselves 
afloat. 
If you are comfortable financially then donations that can be used for things 
like water filters, ping pong tables, wine glasses, good cooking pots and 
other items that benefit the place or even a fund for social events sound 
good to me.
I have found it a real pleasure to be able to share our space with other 
community groups, that in it self is a real value.
