The issue is not email, it is reading and "hearing" what the person said in the context of all the messages, not a sentence in one message. This discussion of pets, as we all know since it is the subject of the email discussion, has been completely unsuccessful in face to face discussions so why should it be better on email. Actually I find it easier on email because I'm not so overpowered by all the emotions in the room and can think logically. Don't blame email for the difficulty in discussing emotional issues.
