I have a different point of view about rational and emotional. I think that both, along with the body, are best used as advisors and not as directors. All 3 give us useful information; all 3 give us information that will take us in directions that aren't in our best interests. I also agree that all 3 are so entwined that it's difficult to thoroughly distinguish them. Our rationality is influenced by our emotions. Our emotions are influenced by our rationality. Our bodies influence both and are influenced in return. The best course, I believe, is to honor all 3 equally and to make none of them the ruler of our lives. Sometimes, I believe, the highest choice is something different than what either emotions or rationality or body say. If we were limited to what they say, most of the creativity, innovation, and discoveries in the world would be wiped out. In the issue of cats and the environment, I think the solution isn't either an emotional solution or a rational solution.
