Many PBS stations now air BBC news which is an accessible and different view of the world. The most stunning change in the globalization resulting from technological innovations is that real people can actually talk to each other. One of my attractions to email is that I can talk to people I know on a daily basis in Japan, Australia, Germany, Ireland, etc. No one in Afghanistan but friends in Germany or South Africa are likely to know more about Afghanistan than I am. And when the phones were out, mail was still working because it has so many alternative relay routes set up. (I don't use a phone line for email) Sharon -- Sharon Villines Takoma Village Cohousing, Washington DC http://www.takomavillage.org _______________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list Cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org Unsubscribe and other info: http://www.communityforum.net/mailman/listinfo/cohousing-l
