summary of membership levels pre-move in (and later)

HI,
I have been searching the archives but not too successfully for information
on levels of membership that communities have developed for the period when
the community is forming and through workshops and building. I am
interested in the levels of financial committment and participation that go
along with the different levels. This is coming up for the Troy Gardens
community as we get closer to design workshops, and are trying to determine
what level of commitment will go along with participation in the workshops.
Troy is a bit different than some existing communities since it is being
developed by a community land trust and 20 of the 24-30 units will be
affordable housing and funded in part by federal monies. However the
principle will be the same for the different households, even though the
level of financial committment may vary.

I would also be interested in finding out about any other types of
membership that communities have found useful to institute AFTER move-in
(e.g. renters or "friends of the community" or other types of memberships).

Thanks
Stephanie
