But what I did discover is that all refrigerators have become so much more energy efficient that paying the difference doesn't make sense (cost/benefit wise) unless you are using solar power or really have a unique situation. The energy efficient sites (the ones I found at least) are using comparison data from many years ago. When you compare their usage to contemporary measurements for standard refrigerators, they don't compare so well. And they are bulky, expensive, and who knows who could repair one?
