But the posts about what people do behind closed doors is applied across the
board -- not just to sexual practices that are less common. I really do not
want to know that my neighbors are doing oral sex with whipped cream and
chocolate syrup or that they have high heel fetishes -- whatever their
sexual mixtures or preferences.

I also don't expect to be chased around the piazza nude by an earth mother
goddess with a feathered head dress and don't particularly want to see
anyone else doing it either. In lasting, diverse communities people don't do
this often -- maybe once every 25 years?

Another aspect of this thread that I alluded to in an earlier post but which
got lost is that sexual orientation is not fixed. I have several very
straight and very gay friends who have changed their interests over the 70
years of their lives. Even if you move into a community in a monogamous
heterosexual relationship, that doesn't mean you will be in the same kind of
relationship in 10 years.

So when we choose our neighbors we need to look much deeper than sexual
orientation. Integrity is less likely to change than whatever one is lusting
after.

I just realized why this is coming up -- it's almost Valentine's Day!
