Heartwood Cohousing is very rural, but our design promotes a fairly cozy feel, IMHO. We're not as tightly clustered as urban projects, but the homes are definitely close with easy opportunities for social interaction and sight lines. We have a combination of single (12) and duplex homes (12). We also have both production built homes (14) and custom built homes (10) so I guess we're considered a mixed development model. We used Chuck Durrett (Cohousing Co) for our initial site design work and later that design was evolved by Matt Worswick. We are doing a combination building & lot approach, with lots around the green and attached, community-built housing along the street near the common house. You can see our site plan at www.champlainvalleycohousing.org under "Design."
