A short article on cohousing is here:

http://boston.bizjournals.com/boston/stories/2002/09/09/focus11.html

with the following quote:

"Informal tracking of the resale value of homes in cohousing neighborhoods
over the past 10 years has demonstrated that cohousing homes hold their
value at or above other new housing in the local market," said Neshama
Abraham, president of Abraham & Associates. "This value can be attributed to
the advantage of living in a setting where you know your neighbors and have
the ongoing benefits of social contact and safety. Appraisers are beginning
to account for these factors."

Of course, the article also does note that "Abraham & Associates LLC is a
Boulder-based public relations and marketing company that helps cohousing
communities attract new members."

So, who knows -- maybe in a few more years there will be enough data to do a
real study comparing coho & non-coho housing appreciation. Especially data
comparing 2nd sales to third sales, etc. - those initial sale prices are
mostly about how well the group managed development costs, rather than any
long-term indication of what people are willing to pay for cohousing.

(where we have a home for sale for only the 2nd time in 7 years -- see our
website for details -- and a goodbye party in an hour. This was one of those
'ricochet' sales: Nancy & Pablo moved out, Jim & Sue bought their house, now
Jim & Sue need a buyer for their house.)
