The other major simplification that we toke at the same time (about two years ago) is that we developed a rotating menu of recipes. These recipes had proven popular over the many years of eating together, were fairly simple to make in large quanitites, and met this low cost. Most cooks choose to cook the meal in the pre-planned rotation, but they can do their own menu if they want.

Could you share some of these -- not the actual recipes but the menus. We have some members who would like to do this but we've gotten into splendiferous meals that take days to prepare and everyone signs up for so they are crowded noisy intense feast days. Other than Pizza Fridays where everyone pays $2 a slice for delivered pizza, meals are such a production. The simple meals we've had have been poorly attended. And they tend to be starchetarian. We also have vegan, vegetarian, and multiple allergies to contend with.
