Okay, all of you who want rural cohousing in California--here's a wonderful site. but it's only for sale a few more days on E-Bay of all places!
(a friend sent this to me this morning, and I had to pass it along to you) Joani BlankWho lives in the most urban cohousing community in the US, and wouldn't have it any other way!
Check it out on eBay. The town of Bridgeville, in Humboldt Co., is for sale. The starting bid was $5,000. When I found it, it was only up to $750,000.Now, it stands at $1,610,600. It looks like it's only an 82-acre parcel (forthe whole town), but it does include a grade school and a post office. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15825&item=1791801094 If this is on the level, this might be the beginning of a nice new hippie community! [that's what he said--I say a cohousing community!
[Hey, and if your group owns the whole town I guess you would also BE the town planning department so you shouldn't have to fight with them. I checked out the locale of Bridgeville. It is 52 miles south and east of Arcata. Lots of neat pictures on the ebay for sale page--jb]
