Wow, I just found out about this -- starting in less than 24 hours! Features Katie, Jim Leach, Tree, Lois, Geoph's video - lots of great coho folks, many hours of coho-related sessions! Had I known I might have made arrangements to hop a train up there. Anybody who does, please do report back on the list! Raines - APRIL 10-13 HOPES Conference (Holistic Options for Planet Earth Sustainability), sponsored by the Ecological Design Center at the University of Oregon (http://edc.uoregon.edu/ ) Community Events at this conference include: Thursday, April 10 "Visions of Utopia" documentary by Geoph Kozeny, profiles of 7 different types of intentional communities (ecovillage, cohousing, commune, urban co-op, and more). Lawrence Hall, room 177 Video showing 7:00-8:30pm, followed by discussion facilitated by Tree Friday, April 11 9:00am-2:00pm Lawrence Hall, room 231 Lois Arkin from Los Angeles Eco-Village available for networking and advice. LA Eco-Village has been creating an urban retrofit ecovillage in multiple apartment buildings in a rundown section of LA since 1993, as a positive response to the '92 riots--it is a really great project and Lois is a major expert, this is a great opportunity. Saturday, April 12 9:00-10:30am Lawrence Hall, room 177 Keynote speaker: Lois Arkin (see above) Saturday 11:00am-1:00pm Lawrence Hall, room 206 Cohousing workshop with Jim Leach Jim Leach is the president of Wonderland Hill, the company that has been the developer of more cohousing projects than any other. Saturday 6:00-7:30pm Lawrence Hall, room 177 Keynote speaker: Katie McCamant, co-author of the book Co-Housing, the book that introduced the US to the cohousing concept.
