Hi Liz,
I don't understand why this discussion is upsetting you.  It might seem to
you  to be merely a matter of semantics, but to me it seems something 
altogether different.  
I also happen to think that what to *DO* has a lot with what we see  as
the cause of the problem:  If it's
illness, certainly it might require different measures to correct than if
it's all of us (to differing degrees), trying to unlearn old habits, and
acquiring new ways to behave/be in the world.
