Re: Pipes: cast iron vs. PVC

PVC is so much noisier that I can't stress it enough. We have our pipes from
the upstairs bathroom going through the wall to exit the house right by the
dining are. It is SO GROSS to hear the toilet flush. It couldn't be much
louder of you just had an open sewer. Sorry, got carried away.

I'd happily go back in time and pay the extra for cast iron. Not to mention
that polyvinyl chloride is a nasty carcinogenic and teratogenic substance
that offgasses. I see people making furniture out of this stuff, and I
cringe. It's not approved for indoor use or pipes that carry water into your
home, so why let it out into the environment?

Another rant brought to you by the friendly folks at Southside Park
Cohousing, where we've made all the mistakes for you, so you don't have to.
