Our toilet to septic plumbing is all with PVC pipes and we don't have any
noise problems that I know of.  One thing that we did to mitigate any
potential noise problems was to insulate all internal walls containing
septic plumbing adjacent to public rooms (external walls are of course
insulated anyway).  Maybe that prevented the problem.
