Hello Everyone,Having just moved in, we are taking a look at how to involve non-residents interested in becoming part of JP Cohousing (this is not the waiting list for units, which we maintain separately). Currently we are looking at several possibilities:
o Being on a full-community (as against the "inside") mailing list, getting notified of community-wide events and being welcome at them, and being able to sign up for community meals. No charge.
o Being on the "inside" mailing list, notified of any meetings and events and being welcome at them, being involved in community meals, having access to common facilities when they are otherwise open (possibly including use of the guest rooms), able to participate in general meetings without blocking consensus, taking on a limited or full work task obligation. Sliding scale.
o All of the immediately above paragraph plus having a key to the common house (and definitely including use of the guest rooms), with a commensurate greater work task obligation. Sliding scale, a greater amount than above.
In the greater cohousing community, these relationships are known by various names such as Friend, Affiliate, or Associate. What I'd like to find out is:
-- What sort of these relationships do you have in your community? -- What privileges, responsibilities, and costs do they entail? -- What response do you have for these relationships? -- What has been your experience with these relationships? I welcome replies either on-list or off. Thank you very much! Regards, David Heimann JP Cohousing
