Cohousing-L Mailing List: elevators

When RoseWind was considering a two story common house (we decided on one 
level later) I asked this list about elevator options (must be archived 
around 1999) and got lots of useful advice. I believe the recommended item 
was called a chair lift: it was like an elevator, but less expensive and 
simpler. The shaft was only 5x5, so we planned to leave that available, as 
well as the required space (4x4?) outside the potential lift doors, for 
entry and exit access. It wouldn't have cost us much to do that.
