Hello Couhousing List,

My name is Danny Mydlack and I am forming a cohousing startup in Baltimore, MD.

I was wondering if I might ask any thoughts you might have on a particular
angle towards cohousing (as you have experience and insight.)

We are a group of parents of toddlers who are also building a school. We have
decided to solve our school problem by making a 'bigger problem'. To start a
cohousing community. We are all committed to cohousing. We have not learned of
any other communities that have formed around the building and running of a
school. (The school would be for our kids and also for other local
non-cohousers.)

Essentially, we would be committing a large part of the community-house
facility (common in all cohousing) to the school.

Our school model will be based on the Sudbury Valley School. I am a professor
and a documentary film maker who released the film "Voices from the New
American Schoolhouse" which was released last year and has received
international interest and recognition.

A trailer of the film can be seen at this site.

We understand that running a 'public' facility in a private community brings
issues and we would design for them.

Our ultimate desire is simple; we want our kids who are learning together to be
able to safely play together afterwards.

Thanks for any thoughts you have.

Danny Mydlack
