I'm really surprised to hear of your travails with the Marmoleum flooring.
It would seem that whatever product you are using isn't suitable-- this is
supposed to be lifetime stuff. (It's supposed to be like the stuff in my
kitchen growing up, which lasted for decades.)
I've had my kitchen and bathroom at home now for 12 years, the Common House
kitchen for almost 7 years- and all is as good as new.
In case it would help, what I use is Protex, a wax with beeswax in it, made
by a company in Oakland which will mail it out. A little goes a long way. In
between waxings, I mostly mop with cool water.
I have (at home and at the CH) a funny machine from the 1950s that is just
two whirly brushes that go around scrubbing the floor. I use it with plain
water, which becomes dirty water, and then gets mopped up. (If I use a
squeegee I can do the whole floor with relatively little water, just
shoving it around.) I wipe the wax on the dry floor with a small rag, by
hand, then when it's dry I buff it with the same whirly brushes. I know of
neighbors who haven't even waxed theirs.
At the common house, till I ran out, I used the wax type finish that came in
a gallon jug when the floor was installed. But now onto Protex, like at
home.
I offer this just in case it would save you having to re do your floors!Good luck,
Lynn at RoseWind
