At JPCohousing - Boston, we do not have any rules at all concerning alcohol.
People often bring beer or wine to our common meals to share with others at the
table. We've had many parties by now (18 months post move in) and I believe
we've had alcohol at all of them except the kids b-day parties. We keep unopen
bottles of champagne and wine in our pantry and sometimes open bottles in the
common house fridge.

I am not aware of any problems concerning alcohol at all in our community. I
haven't heard the parents of any older kids (which includes me) being concerned
that alcohol was within reach, (as it probably is in most homes anyway.)

Hello
I am member of Camelot Cohousing and I participate on our futures
committee. We have been discussing policies for post-move in life.
One of the topics is the use of alcohol in common areas especially the
common house. We were wondering how you have handled this issue and
what kind of policies have you adopted? What are your rules for
serving alcohol at common meals and events? When someone uses the
common house like for a wedding or private party what are your rules
for serving then? Do you store any alcohol in Common areas? We are
just trying to get a sense what's legal and functional.

Thanks
Deirdre
