There are many times in the commonhouse when dishes will be used
besides meals -- people brining in pizza and using just glasses, people
having coffee or wine, popcorn for movies, etc. For this having a
residential dishwasher (which we don't have) would be most convenient.
If you don't,1. the dishes will sit around until the next time the "big" thing is fired up or,
2. they will be hand washed or even just rinsed off by person or persons unknown who may or may not care about germs, etc.
With a residential washer, the dishes can be put in the dishwasher and a load run much sooner than the big boy gets used.
