The requirement that a member sponsor and supervise the event did reduce the number of requests significantly because it required members to take responsibility and be present instead of just say sure and put it on the calendar. The open floor plan also restricts the kind of event people plan. It isn't possible to have an event that is entirely separate from other community activities.
We have fewer than one "outside" event a week. I would say 2-3 a month at most. I think there may have been more at the beginning but it settled down very quickly as the curiosity wore off.
