At Winslow Cohousing, we have done various neighborhood things. We put
an acre of our woods into Community Land Trust, and since we are in an
area of all condominiums and office buildings, this will preserve a bit
of greenspace for everyone. At the last election, we invited the city
council candidates to meet with neighbors at our common house, we host
a community chorus, "Tree Frog Choir" for practice every monday evening
in our common house, we had a neighborhood potluck last summer, and
we've done various other events open to the whole community at our
common house, from Local Currency, to Simple Living, to the local Jewish
group having occasional events or dinners. Pachamama Alliance had a
meeting in our common house, as well as the Northwest Intentional
Community Association, and more. We do require that meetings have a
sponsor from within the community and that that community member be
present at host for meetings.
