We don't have coffee and snacks at all hours, but 3 years ago, two community
members began
offering free coffee and cookies on Saturday mornings. It grew in popularity
and became bagels
and coffee with tea, cocoa, jam, butter, and cream cheese. This has become an
important element
of community socialization with more coming to this than to our dinners or
business meetings.
The community now funds it from our budget. Prospective residents are always
invited to it as an
opportunity to meet a large segment of the community on a completely social
basis.

Please tell us how you did this.

I don't often drink coffee but I would love it if I knew there were
other people sitting around in the CH talking. The thing I still miss
from college, 30 years later, is the regular morning coffee hour when
there were always friends at the same table in the cafeteria.

We also have a person who is much too diligent about cleaning the
refrigerator so there are never snacks around.
