A few thought related to the recent discussion. There should be a way to connect a video system in such a way that connections do not have to be moved. Worst case is have a labeled switch or even labeled connections accessible from front. These simplfy the process of switching modes and makes instructions simpler. Are there stand alone video switches with remote control capability built in? We have a TV that effectively has this (built-in) with an "input" button on the remote that steps thru 3 alternatives (DTV tuner, acux 1, aux 2) A universal remote with the ability to program several complete setups sounds like a good alternative - I'll call it "Fixed Setups". MPR recently had a segment about using a tablet computer (I think) with suitable software to simplify the user interface from having several remotes with obscurely labeled buttons. I think Fixed Setups sounds like it might be most appropriate for a common house. Fixed Setups could be combined with and "enclosure" around connections (rather than soldered connecotrs). Maybe corregated plastic that make connections less accessible. Mabe even just an opaque plastic bag around connections. Either would be clearly marked DO NOT CHANGE CONNECTIONS WITHOUT PERMISSION FORM ... -- Fred H.
