Re: Is in-house plumbing and electric a must?

I forwarded the initial post to an architect friend who is a
fan of tiny houses, and would like to share her response:

" We are all familiar with the success of co-housing as
started in Denmark and used in many places in this country.
I have not clicked on all the related site material but this
kind of housing would have to be organized something like
co-housing. Like, who is responsible for keeping the bath
rooms and kitchen clean? Some people are cleaner than
others. What happens if someone makes a mess and doesn't
clean up after him/herself? They could walk out and no one
would know who did it. Also what would be used for lighting
if there is no electricity? Kerosine lamps? Candles? Gas
lanterns? Any one of these could be dangerous. Not to seem
judgemental, but some homeless people are also alcoholics.
There is a lot to consider with the idea of no electricity
and no plumbing."

a cohousing community where water and electricity were
provided only to the common house and not to the individual
units? This is interesting to me as way to reduce costs in
developing a cohousing community.
