here are responses to your collective queries:
- habitat: contact your local chapter. if they don't know, contact the boulder
valley chapter in boulder colorado for how you can guide your local group
- cultural competency: this is a big coho issue. i'm the only brown skin in my
'hood. cohousing / community is not in the american social dna. i happen to be
teaching a workshop about this at the aging better together conference in salt
lake coming up in may.l - spirit of culture
- ghettos: i read something from some poster about low income ghettos. around
the corner from silver sage is a permanently affordable owner occupied
development that works well. i think ownership is the hedge against ghettos -
which is the habitat ideology. these complicated rent to own deals putting
people in debt who have no business taking on a mortgage get some people
underwater real fast.
- senior cohousing: i'm a movie maker and produced a documentary called 'aging
gratefully' which is screening at the salt lake conference. if you want to
screen it in your neck of the woods let me know. here's info about it:

( hey fred - is it possible to respond to posts here?)
