Friends, Cohousers and UUOaklanders,Check out this article and see the short documentary made by two remarkable young women. (They won first place in the Middle School division of a documentary contest for young videographers sponsored by C-Span to which 2882 videos were submitted!)
What the article doesn't tell you is that these talented sisters were raised and still live with their parents, Molly and Peter Lazar, in a cohousing community, Shadowlake Village, in Blacksburg, VA! Each of them is one of us.
_http://www.wdbj7.com/news/local/blacksburg-sisters-win-1st-place-in-national-video-documentary-contest/38429580_I'm privileged to know the Lazar family a little bit better than most Cohousing-l readers do, and I feel as proud of Mia and Ava Lazar as I would if they had grown up in my own cohousing community. I expect that other cohousers reading this and seeing their 1st Prize 7.5 minute documentary will feel the same way.
Joani Blank Swan's Market Cohousing Oakland CAp.s. Mia and Ava's Dad, Peter Lazar is on the Board of the Cohousing Association. Thanks for your service, Peter. p.p.s. The Lazars are active members of their local Unitarian Church, and have been leaders in SUUSI (Southeast U.U. Summer Institute) for many years, so I'm posting this on my Oakland UU Church's listserv as well.
for many years.
