O hey!

Just got off the Web Chat on retrofit cohousing led by Alan O’Hashi (spell?)
and hosted by Karen Hoskin from CohoUS.

Excellent pitch for building a cohousing community using existing neighborhoods
right where you are.

If you are unfamiliar w/ retrofit cohousing, suggest starting w/ learning about
N Street Cohousing in Davis, CA — lots of good resources on its website.

Temescal Creek Cohousing is another successful example of assembling homes in
an existing neighborhood. I’ve visited there and saw how the lot boundaries
for each home disappeared into an amazingly well thought out landscape design
that knit the individual homes together.

And check out Alan’s Web Chat which I understand will be posted to Youtube
along w/ all the other Web Chats. I’m assuming the link will be provided to
our list.

If you live in a high rent district … retrofit cohousing — assembling existing
housing stock into an identifiable community — may be an answer to the dilemma
of finding a single site on which to build.

BTW — next Web Chat Grace Kim is going to talk about sound abatement in Common
Houses … how many of us deal w/ THAT issue?

Thank you to Alan and Karen and CohoUS for this Web Chat.

:-)
