Regarding the sex offender registry, there will be people on that registry who were convicted of things we would not consider "crimes." I don't know all the laws in different states but imagine teens being put on the list because they sent photos to another teen--distributing child porn! The sex offender registry has been problematic since it was implemented. Everything Carol said is correct--the people who want to abuse children are really great at manipulating the adults around them. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and what was said on this list recently about cohousing being a perfect target environment made me a little nervous. I could not imagine anyone I know from our community but why would anyone object to that screening I wonder?
